Tourism revenue up 29% in December y-o-y

Revenue from tourism increased annually by 29.0% in December, according to the results of Cystat’s Passengers Survey.

It said revenue from tourism reached €74.3m in December 2023 compared to €57.6m in the corresponding month of the previous year, recording an increase of 29.0%.

In January – December 2023, revenue from tourism rose to €2,990.6m from €2,439.2m in the same period of 2022, recording an increase of 22.6%.

The average expenditure per person also increased, by 14.8%, reaching €600.79 in December 2023 from €523.42 in December the year before.

Tourists from the UK (the island’s largest market with 23.4% of total tourists in December 2023) spent on average €56.23 per day, while tourists from Poland (the second largest market during the specific month with 11.5% of total tourists) spent on average €69.89. Tourists from Greece (the third largest market with 10.3%), spent on average €39.41 per day.
