The foundation stone for Phase II of the development of Larnaca and Paphos airports was laid on 5 June in the presence of President Nikos Christodoulides.
The ceremony, held at Larnaca Airport, marked the beginning of a milestone project for the air transport sector and Cyprus broader development strategy. It will ensure that our airports can effectively meet the needs of a new era in travel—one that extends beyond the current Concession Agreement period.
What Phase II includes
The new phase involves extensive upgrades:
- A new annex at Larnaca Airport’s terminal with departure and arrival gates, which will be connected to the main terminal building
- Additional baggage carousels, expanded passport control and security check areas, and an enlarged commercial zone
- Increased aircraft parking positions
In Paphos:
- A 30% capacity increase for the terminal
- Extension of the southern parallel taxiway
After completion
- Total passenger capacity will reach 17.4 million passengers annually
- Total budget: €170 million
