September’s hamonised inflation up 4.3% y-o-y

The Harmonised Consumer Prices Index rose by 4.3% in September for the second consecutive month, according to CySTAT.

It attributed the increase to rising prices in Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages. Compared with August 2023, the index rose by 0.2%.

In January - September 2023, inflation rose by 4.4% compared to the corresponding period of the previous year.

Compared to September 2022, the largest changes were noted in Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages with 10.2% and Restaurants and Hotels which rose by 5.9%, whereas compared with August 2023, the largest change was registered in the category if Clothing and Footwear with 7.6%.

In terms of economic origin, the largest annual change was recorded in Food-Alcoholic Beverages-Tobacco with 8.5%.
